a new entry-level Android smartphone. Starting this week, the handset

The J1 can be bought via Amazon India for $115 (7,190 INR),
in white or black, with a blue version expected to be released soon.
Running Android 4.4 KitKat, the new Galaxy is obviously not a
powerhouse, relying on a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor (unknown maker) and
512 MB of RAM for all the computing tasks you’ll assign it. The
smartphone further features a 4.3-inch PLS display with 480 x 800
pixels, dual SIM capabilities, 3G, a 5 MP rear camera, 2 MP front-facing
camera, and 4 GB of expandable internal memory. A 1850 mAh battery and
Ultra Power Saving Mode are also included.
there are tens of comments on the Galaxy J1’s Amazon India product page,
all (with no exception), coming from customers who are saying that the
smartphone’s price is too high for the features it’s offering. We can’t
say we’re surprised by this, since there are plenty of Android handsets
that cost around $100 in India and come with features like 720p screens,
1 GB of RAM, and more internal memory.
We don’t know if Samsung intends to launch the Galaxy J1 in North America, but we’ll let you know when we find out.
